The Directorate of Animal Husbandry is located on the 6th floor of Vikas Bhavan, Thiruvananthapuram. The overall technical, administrative, and financial control of the Directorate is vested in the Director, who is supported by a team of two Additional Directors, a Senior Administrative Officer, a Senior Finance Officer, three Joint Directors, six Deputy Directors, and five Assistant Directors.
The major technical wings of the Directorate include Veterinary Services and Animal Health, Planning, Livestock Production, Poultry, and Animal Husbandry Statistics. The administrative wing oversees general administration and establishment-related matters.
At the district level, 14 District Animal Husbandry Officers, in the cadre of Joint Director, oversee the activities of the department. District Animal Husbandry Office is responsible for the effective administration of all the Animal Husbandry institutions and activities of the respective district. A Deputy Director and a Veterinary Surgeon assist the District Animal Husbandry Officer in administrative and technical matters.
